Wicklow Mountains Reserve Tree Planting Day: 26th May
Join the Native Woodland Trust on Saturday 26th May on our Wicklow Mountains Reserve for a fun tree planting day! The reserve is situated high in the mountains above the village of Laragh, overlooking a picturesque valley on the edge of the Wicklow Mountains National Park. Come join us and plant a tree to celebrate National Biodiversity Week and be a part of the development of this community woodland. Native Woodland Trust hands-on volunteering days are the perfect way to have fun and get some exercise in the great outdoors while making a real difference for Irish conservation
On Saturday we will be planting native trees and constructing fencing to protect the new saplings from grazing. All work will be carried out using hand-held tools and simple techniques and will be co-ordinated and overseen by our reserve officer. We will of course take plenty of breaks, stopping for tea (on us!) and some lunch while enjoying the spectacular views and fresh air of the Wicklow Mountains. So join us and make a difference for Irish conservation. The event is free of charge and all ages are welcome!

Seed Collection for Elm seed - Our native Wych Elm sets seed in early Summer - many trees already have produced millions of seeds. This seed needs to be collected as soon as it falls from the tree - so we will be organising a seed hunt for Elm, local to each of our woodland reserves in Blessington, Laragh and Farnaght.

Tree Nursery - we have already collected thousands of seeds which have been sown but which now need potting on. We have capacity for nearly 30,000 trees at the moment and are also hoping to expand.
